With a passion for God......and a passion for people.

Ben Redding Community Church Leader

About me

I was brought up in Sevenoaks, Kent and went on to study veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College London. After two years I transferred to King’s College London to study biomedical science. It then made the difficult decision not to continue with my veterinary training, but instead to train as a teacher. I worked for 7 years as a biology teacher in a secondary school in London During my last two years here I worked part-time at school and part-time as a parish assistant at St Thomas’, Oakwood. From there I went on to complete a degree in Pastoral and Theological Studies at Oak Hill College, North London and then on to be curate at St Margaret’s.

I am married to Cherry, also a former science teacher, and we have three girls Lydia, Heidi and Joy. We enjoy being outside, especially walking in hills.

About Community Church

St Margaret’s Community Church (SMCC) is a church plant from the Parish Church and was set up in 2003. We meet every Sunday at 11.00am in the hall of St Margaret’s Primary School. Our style of meeting is informal and relaxed as we try to make the Christian faith accessible to all.

In our meetings we seek to encounter the living God by hearing His voice as the Bible is taught clearly and relevantly. We seek to praise Him through lively worship. We seek to speak to Him through our prayers. And we seek to support and encourage each other in our daily lives. Our aim week by week is that Christians will be built up and strengthened in their faith and those who don’t yet believe will hear the good news of Jesus and find in Him life in all its fullness.

We are a mixed bunch of people but there is a strong family feel. There is a complete age spectrum in the church. We run groups each Sunday for pre-school and primary age children and we have a youth group. There are opportunities to link up with the Parish Church for a mum’s Bible study group, a men’s fellowship and groups for senior folk. During the week, we run home groups to support and encourage each other in our Christian faith. We also love to reach out and welcome new people into our fellowship. We put on social events and other guest events where people can hear the good news about Jesus. We also run a course for those who wish to look at the claims of Christ in a non-threatening and relaxed environment.

If  you feel that SMCC might be for you, we would love to see you on a Sunday morning. Or, if you prefer, do give me, Ben Redding a ring on 01903 786834 for more information.
