Our mission
Our mission as a church is to bring people into SMCC to encounter God.
We seek to do this by:
Reaching out: we aim to go out into the community and make connections with people.
Welcoming in: we aim to make our Sunday meetings welcoming and accessible to new people. We seek to present the good news about Jesus clearly and relevantly.
Building up: we aim to build people up in their faith and help them to discover and use their gifts.
Praying through: we aim to make prayer central to all we do, relying on God to use us to make a difference in our community.
What we do
Our Sunday meeting is flexible to fit into today’s busy life and has two parts:
10.30-11.15 Part 1: This part of the meeting is particularly for those investigating the Christian faith but also aims to help Christians grow in their faith.
11.15-11.45 Part 2: This part of the meeting is for those who can stay a bit longer and helps us explore our faith further.
Coffee and refreshments are served at the end of the meeting.
Sunday Children’s and Youth Groups
Young people are very important to Jesus, and they are a very important part of SMCC.
They have their own groups, run during the first part of the meeting, where they can play and have fun, while getting to know about Jesus.
Creche (babies and pre-schoolers)
For the youngest children there is no shortage of love. With soft toys and cars, there is plenty of fun in a safe environment.
Quest (primary school children)
With activities and stories, films and games, the children can’t wait to get to their group.
Run by 2 very experienced workers, and helped by teenagers from the church, the young Questers have lots of fun learning about Jesus.
E:motion (school year 7 and up)
With all of their questions from creation to death, love and war...., there’s our youth worker at hand to debate with the teenagers. They also take an active part in the church, helping in services, teaching the Questers, helping the needy, and going on mission.
Socials
As a church we have an active social life, aimed at getting to know each other better, and an opportunity to invite others along, so they can experience church life for themselves in a relaxed and fun environment.
For the girls
A social get together is a great way to meet old friends and make new ones. Throughout the year the ‘girls’ (18 +) get together to have their own fun. So far they have learnt how to belly dance, tasted good wines, been pampered by professionals, had walks and drinks down the pub. They have also been to shows up in London and had a weekend away.
For the lads
Not quite as adventurous as the girls, but more competitive, the boys (16+) have had nights at the pub, competitions at pool, darts, table tennis and table football, played in a football tournament, and played skittles at The Black Horse, all usually accompanied by good food and a laugh.
For the whole family
Being part of a Christian family is an important aspect of SMCC. We enjoy having fun together celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, having BBQs and sports days, quiz nights and wine tasting evenings.
Christianity Explored
This is a 6 week course designed for those who are investigating the Christian faith for themselves. You may be used to church, or you may have never set foot inside one. Whatever your situation the Christianity Explored course is an opportunity to take a closer look at the Christian faith.
In an informal, relaxed environment, the course explores who Jesus was, why he died on a cross, and what it means to follow him. Come and share in a meal together, and listen to a short talk, ask questions and discuss what it all means, or just sit in and listen to others.
Home Groups
Home Groups provide an opportunity to share our lives with one another, and to grow in faith together. Meeting in homes, a small group of people can get to know each other better, and feel free to ask those questions you have always wanted to know the answer to. Each home group provides the opportunity to study the Bible, pray and enjoy socials together as well as being an important way to support each other.
So if you want to know more about the good news of Jesus and what the Bible has to say, a home group is a good way to start.
Monthly Prayer Meeting
SMCC is a praying church. We believe that it is only through the power of prayer that we will be able to know and do the things that God wants us to do. That’s why once a month we meet together for prayer.
Where we meet
St. Margaret’s Primary School is in Arundel Road, at the north end of Angmering village. The school has a car park and excellent disabled access and is pushchair friendly.
